Scotch Colours opens August 28, Scotch College Perth - Friday, 25 July 2008
When I was asked to do the Scotch Exhibition for the second time I was honoured but somewhat daunted. My first Scotch Exhibition was free reign, but this show was going to be different; an expose of school life, capturing moments in time. It was going to be a challenge in more ways than one.
The boys standing around waiting for assembly, hands in pockets, slouched shoulders, pants at half mast. The piper leading the march past, the bagpipes and drums stirring some emotional memory one finds hard to ignore. The strain etched in the faces of the rowers, their coxswain urging them to go harder.
These are just some of the images that swirl through my mind when I think of the school and what it represents. Being intimately involved with the school and my son’s own journey to maturity, I begin to appreciate what the school offers to the boys. This exhibition is in a small way a celebration of that journey. The images will endure through to the next generation.
Enjoy.
